Firsts is a song about the societal construct behind first experiences, and how they often don't live up to expectations. it is the most angsty song on the EP and has a mix of jealousy and confusion in its lyrics.

when I was in school, I would often overhear stories about relationships that my classmates got into and would wonder just how special they were, especially when people made such a big deal over someone's first partner. it felt like I was on the outside of something amazing, and I was so desperate to be able to experience it for myself.

yet later in life I started to realise these firsts may not be what they were chalked up to be. the bridge has some lies, for example I haven't actually had my first kiss, but it did almost happen and I took some... creative liberties to write it into this song. but I have been disappointed by some of the other firsts, and it really makes no sense to me that people expect success or an amazing experience the very first time they do something.
